Chemical Peels

A chemical face peel can rejuvenate your skin, to give you a clearer, fresher looking complexion and restore your natural glow. A chemical peel is particularly useful in treating breakouts and scars from previous breakouts or to remove pigmentation.
These are available in different concentrations so once your goals have been discussed during your skin consultation and your skin thoroughly analysed, our practitioner will match you with the most appropriate strength chemical peel for you. This type of treatment has little-to-no downtime and any discomfort is very minimal; usually, the patient will experience a tingling sensation in the treatment area during the procedure.

Indications that chemical peels may be suitable for you include:
You have dull, tired-looking skin which you would like to refresh
You would currently follow, or are planning to start, a consistent skincare regime and would like to boost your results
You would like an exfoliating treatment with little to no downtime
You have an uneven skin tone You are starting to see signs of ageing

    • Minimized Fine Lines and Wrinkles: The exfoliating action of skin peeling can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

    • Reduced Hyperpigmentation: Can target & fade areas such as age spots or sunspots, for a more even skin tone.

    • Enhanced Product Absorption: After a skin peeling treatment, your skin is primed to absorb skincare products more effectively, maximizing their benefits.

Overall your Skin will be brighter tighter and fresher revealing a more youthful smooth complexion.

  • Chemical skin peels may cause increased sensitivity depending on your skin type and home care regimen. Side effects may include (but aren’t limited to): stinging, itching, irritation, redness, swelling, tightness, peeling and scabbing of the skin, scarring, post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation.

  • This type of side effect is usually associated with strong chemical peels. Usually, the peeling systems that we use do not have this type of side effect, for example, in our experience patients find that at most they are slightly pink immediately after a glycolic peel and that this quickly subsides. This would be discussed with you before your treatment.

  • We recommend a course of 4-8 peels - one peel a week, or fortnightly -dependent on your skin goals

  • You will usually stop using any active skincare products (e.g. containing retinol, glycolic, other AHA’s or bleaching products) for 3 days prior to your peel

It is recommended that you have not had sunbed use or sunburn or any other form of burn to the face in the 2 weeks prior to your peel

After the peel you should use the recommended home care products (including SPF50 Daily. This will ensure that your skin heals quickly and is kept hydrated post-treatment.

Avoid sweating, exercising, hot baths or shower for 72 hours after your peel and avoid scrubbing, picking or rubbing the skin for 5 days post treatment.

Avoid intense sun exposure (e.g sunbathing with face in sun) or tanning beds for at least 14 days after any peel.

What is it?
A safe & effective treatment that involves the application of a chemical solution to the skin that encourages the shedding of dead skin cells & stumulates the growth of new, healthy cells. They can be applied to the face, neck, hands, décolletage and body.
There are many types of chemical peels of varying strengths and which perform different tasks. There are superficial peeling treatments, such as glycolic peels, which use enzymes to exfoliate and refresh the skin; gentle yet effective, this type of peel works on the uppermost layer of the skin to reveal healthy, new skin cells.
